Kwania Foundation seeks to establish a community/youth center through which we would be able to teach basic technical skills like carpentry, metal fabrication, baking and run a resource center (books and computers training). Many of these skills training programs are more suitable for young people, but we wish to also provide some suitable skills training programs for older women as well. We hope to be able to teach things like quilting, sewing, knitting and oyster mushroom growing. There is also the potential to teach other food saving methods like drying fruits or perhaps canning and making fruit jams with the fruits that would otherwise spoil if not preserved.
Our vision is to have this place serve as a center for knowledge transfer for people who have a lifetime of experience to pass these important skills on to young people. In doing this we hope to share the love of Christ and help people discover who they are meant to be in Christ. So while the activities may change over time as we grow and learn, the goals will remain the same.
Kwania Foundation is run by Jonathan and Rachel Kurkilahti, alongside their two sons, Isaiah and Levi. The website is currently operated by Jared Kurkilahti.
